At fourteen — the right to education and a future of her own

Fourteen-year-old Bushra from Bangladesh was protected from an early marriage. Representatives of a local child protection centre supported by UNICEF worked with her father. The story was shared by UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell following her visit to the country.

The scale of the problem is enormous: according to a 2025 study, 47.2 % of women in Bangladesh aged 20–24 were married before reaching adulthood.

On 20 October, UNICEF called for expanded support for children, measures to prevent child marriage, and help for girls to complete their schooling.

Behind the dry statistics lies the opportunity to choose a profession, attend university, see the world and decide for yourself what your life will be like.

For Rusoturisto.org, getting to know a country begins with paying attention to its people. Understanding another world means noticing those whose opportunities are still limited by poverty and pressure from those around them.

The right to dream should be accompanied by the opportunity to make that dream come true.
