🇹🇼🤝🇺🇸 TAICHUNG AND MICHIGAN ARE BUILDING CITY-LEVEL DIPLOMACY
Taichung in Taiwan and Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan have signed a twinning agreement. But this is not just another ceremony with flags: the parties want to develop education, culture, technology and economic ties together education, culture, technology and economic ties.
The agreement was signed by Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen and Oakland County Executive David Coulter. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer attended the ceremony.
The technology sector is particularly interesting. Taichung and Michigan are linking their cooperation to the development of drones, unmanned systems and advanced manufacturing. At the same time, the initiative involves educational and cultural exchanges—meaning that technology becomes another reason for people to connect.
🌏 This creates an intriguing model of modern diplomacy: international relations are no longer built only by states. Cities, universities, technology companies and young people are creating connections across the ocean themselves.
I invite everyone to the channel.
